You are here:
The golf is as timeless as the entire resort. Two Canadian design legends, a generation apart, have combined to bring you a delightful dose of classic resort golf. Stanley Thompson carved out the original nine holes in 1922. Robbie Robinson integrated a second nine in 1971, creating a seamless routing that, like a lot things at the Briars, may look fairly innocuous on paper, but will be appreciated for its subtle charms. Though less than 6300 yards from the tips with a slope of 120, the Briars is the epitome of the old-style course that has had a resurgence in recent years. A great walking course, the wide, but well-framed fairways narrow into velvety, but slick greens that are very undulating and well-guarded by bunkers and mounding. And all of it is kept in immaculate condition by the crew of 2003 Canadian Golf Superintendent of the Year Paul White. Two of the three par-5s are reachable by big hitters, and you might use four different clubs to play the par-3s. The exquisite par-4s will provide you a challenge that’s tougher than it looks, but won’t beat you up. You’re here to relax and have fun, remember? Which is why you might want to leave time to play it once more than you planned.
